Chris Paul may be headed out of OKC after an enormous season with the team. Fortunately for him, there are three teams that would love to have Paul running the offense for them – the Bucks, Knicks, and Philadelphia 76ers.

Paul’s 2019-20 NBA season was fueled by his will to prove that he is still a top player in the league. Guess what? CP3 indeed carried the Oklahoma City Thunder to a respectable record in the stacked-up West.

People were doubting Paul even before the season started, and gave his team only 0.2% to make the Playoffs. However, Paul’s veteran experience came in handy for the young OKC squad. Now, it seems like OKC is looking to rebuild their squad and trade Paul this offseason.

The Philadelphia 76ers might be the front runners to land CP3 if OKC trades him. According to NBA analysts Brian Windhorst and Royce Young, the trade might actually happen. Here’s how the conversation went on ESPN’s Hoop Collective podcast.

Would the Thunder like Al Horford? I know they tried to sign him a few years ago when Billy Donovan first got there, and he went to Boston instead. They’ve got Steven Adams, who is Extension eligible this summer, but […] would they take Al Horford? Because, can you imagine Chris Paul ordering Joel Embiid around? Ordering Ben Simmons around? It might actually work,” wondered Windhorst.

Look, the Thunder are going to have to take salary back, in some regard, it’s just the nature of the deal. I think the years would be a concern. … If you attach a pick, or a young player … I think the Thunder would probably view somebody like Al Horford as a good cultural fit within the organization,” replied Young.

If the words of the analysts come true, Paul might be paired up with Ben Simmons, Joel Embiid, and Tobias Harris. Also, they will dump Al Horford’s horrific contract.

How good will the Philadelphia 76ers be with Chris Paul?

Well, the only thing that the 76ers are missing right now is veteran leadership. Al Horford has experience, but he is not a vocal leader like Chris Paul. Consequently, Paul might be the final piece in the 76ers’ quest for an NBA championship.

Moreover, ‘CP3’ averaged a respectable 17.6 points a game while shooting 48.9% from the field. Adding more value to his game is his ability to knock down clutch shots. The fans saw a glimpse of his clutch shooting prowess in the first-round series against the Rockets.

Will Philadelphia become CP3’s new home? Or will he stay with the Thunder to compete for the title? The 2020 offseason holds the answer to that question.
