When Damian Lillard played for Weber State University, he was not a highly rated recruit. But by defying his critics, Lillard went sixth in the 2012 NBA Draft. The Portland Trail Blazers star stands where he is today due to his pure hardwork and determination. 

Lillard is now the highest-paid Blazers player and his contract ends following the 2020-21 season. He is also due to sign a super-max contract with the team upon the completion of his current agreement. But would that happen or is it possible? That remains a question. 

Certain fans feel Damian Lillard is stuck with the Blazers team and that he needs to take his talents elsewhere. There are constant rumors about him moving to the Los Angeles Lakers or the New York Knicks. In fact, Lillard moving to the Knicks is a real possibility as per Mike Berman of the New York Post.

While one may think that a “disgruntled” player like Lillard might ask for a trade from Portland, the 29-year-old has come out and stated that it is the exact opposite.

Well, the five-time All-Star wants everyone to know that they are just rumors which are created in order to develop a sensation. Of course, imagining Lillard playing alongside LeBron James and AD is intriguing. Everyone would want to see that. But, for Lillard, Portland is where his heart is, and here is proof of that.

Lillard casually responds by saying there is a lack of content, which is the reason why these rumors tend to fly around. On the other hand, the talented point guard and his team have a lot of work to do when they enter the Ornaldo bubble. 

The Blazers have a talented roster at their disposal, and would hope to get the better of their opponents to book a playoff berth. Portland is on the cards as the “sleeper” in the Western Conference. Can they really upset the giants in the West and can Lillard prove his loyalty to the team by carrying them into a deep playoff run?
