Everything comes with a price tag, so does fandom. The Los Angeles Lakers have multi-million fans all across the world. Some are the regular ones, while some are mega celebs. Some worship the franchise, while some are its most brutal critics. The Orlando bubble was no exception, where the Lakers arrived to initially attract criticism and then closed with gaining all the praise.

One such celebrity critic was rapper Snoop Dogg. Snoop has always been quite vocal and totally honest with his views about the Lakers. He would be amongst the first ones to glorify them and also the first ones to show them their place.

Danny Green is not new to attract criticism. In fact, he is one of the more consistent ones. In Game 5, he missed a once in a lifetime opportunity to close the NBA Finals with one clutch-time three-pointer. He was standing open and still missed the crucial shot when the entire team counted on him. Social media, being social media, it did not spare him for the failure.

Rapper Snoop explained why the Lakers’ fans are so demanding. In an interview, he revealed, “We have high expectations out here. Every year is championship or bust, no matter what kind of team we got, and then we do have the team that’s set up to win it all.

“We expect them bring their all every night. We know that they’re gonna have bad games, because we have had bad records, we have bad singles, and we have things that don’t get approved by the people a lot of times but we got to keep pushing forward, but the thing is we love the team so much that we know that they can do better.”

The 49-YO who recently celebrated his birthday, added, “So when you see me going after a Danny Green or going after Caldwell Pope, it’s just to get them better. It’s not to try to degrade them or make them feel low. It’s to make them know that we expect them to be at the level that they on and when they do perform on that level, we get that championship.”

The Lakers are never going to have it easy

Given the height of expectations and the kind of legacy that the name carries, the Lakers will never have an easy path. They’ve won 17 Championships, but are still far from attaining the success they achieved in the ‘80s. Right after the duo of LeBron James and Anthony Davis lifted the title, fans began hoping that they’d pull a three-peat, just as Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O’Neal did.

Such is the level of demand that the fans have. Danny Green had earlier given another interview where he had voiced it’ll be tough for him or Bron to play if the next season resumes in December. One can imagine how the fans will react if the Lakers fail to give a flying start because of this.
