Toronto Raptors guard Kyle Lowry has been in the NBA for 14 years. Due to this experience, he is naturally one of the leaders of the Raptors. Pascal Siakam may be the juggernaut on the court, but coach Nick Nurse believes that Lowry is the one leading the team to the second seed in the Eastern Conference. Lowry runs the point for the Raptors and has enjoyed success in Nurse’s cohesive system.

Lowry gave a press conference on Zoom alongside coach Nick Nurse. Nurse was quick to recognize Lowry’s role as a leader on the team. He said, “I think it’s clearly Kyle’s team. His care-factor is up there, his intelligent-factor is way up there. We’re in good hands with him as the leader of this team.”

Lowry was one of the key players in bringing the NBA to the bubble. When asked about his role, Lowry said “It kind of fell into my lap a little bit with how it happened but it was interesting to come up with some of the concepts, talk it over and help make sure it’s done the right way.”

He also addressed the rising number of COVID-19 cases in Florida. “Our protocol is unbelievable. Our health & safety measures have been top notch. I think this thing will work perfectly… (The NBA) is doing everything they can to make sure we’re healthy, safe & able to do our job at a high level.”

Kyle Lowry’s Toronto Raptors?

Lowry has averaged 19.7 points on 41% shooting from the field and 35% shooting from three. He is averaging 7.7 assists and 4.8 rebounds. He has taken a clear backseat to Pascal Siakam on the court, with Lowry deferring to the forward for points this year.

Lowry’s efficiency hasn’t been as good as previous seasons, but his defensive game has taken a step up. Lowry is playing aggressive defense on the perimeter, which is helping the Raptors be one of the better defensive teams in the league this year.
