LA Clippers saw a setback when Montrezl Harrell had to take permission and leave the Orlando Bubble for an emergency. He could play none of the scrimmage games. A few days ago, the sad news of his grandma’s death came and everyone thought he will not return anytime soon. But the latest development says otherwise.

Clippers have won three and lost as many in the six games they’ve played till now in the restart. Lou Williams, who was serving quarantine, joined them last week, but they would desperately want Montrezl to play for some minutes in the games to come. Both Lou and Montrezl have been nominated among Top 3 finalists for the NBA Sixth Man of the Year award.

Montrezl Harrell is back in the bubble

The 6’8” center player posted on his Twitter account exclaiming, “I’m back!!!!!!!!” and now everyone is making a guess whether he will play both the games.

The rules require him to stay in quarantine for four days after returning. This kills his chances of playing against the Denver Nuggets on Wednesday. However, the Clippers head coach Doc Rivers, who was not ready to give any update on his return, has now reportedly signaled that he might play against the Oklahoma City Thunder.

It would be refreshing to see Montrezl playing after so long. He last played against the Golden State Warriors in March when he scored 14 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 assists in 20 minutes. Clippers had won that game.

Why is Trezz important to the LA Clippers team?

The 26-YO man has been out of touch from the game for over five months now. Clippers will want him to play in at least one seeding game to shed that rust off him. Doc Rivers’ side is praised for its strong bench strength, and Montrezl should add to it when they enter the playoffs.

Montrezl was averaging 18.6 points and 7.1 rebounds per game in the regular 2019-20 season with 58% FG. His wingspan of 7’4” helps him be great at defense and fetch important steals and blocks. Even if for some restricted minutes, we are positive that he will be given a chance to play this week.

LA Clippers will next play the Denver Nuggets on August 12th, at 9:00 PM ET. It is a very important game, given the winner might cement its place at #2 in the Western Conference.
