Dallas Mavericks Match Worst Franchise Record After Clippers Defeat

The Dallas Mavericks and the LA Clippers are playing the post-season just like tired boxers fight in the 10th round. They’re taking and sending heavy punches alternatively. So Game 5 belonged to the Clippers after they lost Game 4 in OT. 

A loss that comes with a huge deficit stings as hard as a loss at buzzer-beater. At least this is how the Mavs must feel right now. The LA Clippers dominated every quarter of the game and did not let the Luka Doncic-led Mavericks to breathe at any point in the game. The result? A record that the Mavs will love to forget.

LA Clippers went full throttle against the Mavericks – facepalm!

It appeared that Doc Rivers corrected every flaw that his side had showcased until Game 4 in the NBA Playoffs 2020. He ensured that Paul George gets his momentum back and also that the Clippers give not one chance to the Mavs to be good at defense. 

The final score of 154-111 showed a 43 point difference. The last time Mavs took such a monstrous beating was in 1984. Have a look at their worst playoff defeats (this tweet was posted when the match was still on)-

So clearly, they were just one point shy of touching a new low. This defeat will haunt the Mavs but they need to forget it soon as now they can afford to lose no more. The Mavs also need Kristaps Porzingis to be back in the next game.

The most dominant victory in the season!

For the Clippers, PG and Kawhi Leonard did all the heavy lifting as they posted 35 and 32 points, respectively. The Clippers touched the 150-mark for the third time in the 2019-20 season.

They first pulled a 150-101 victory against a limping Atlanta Hawks in November 2019. In that match too, Clippers forward Paul George scored 37 points in just 20 minutes of play. Next up, the LA franchise defeated Washington Wizards 150-125 in December last year. Not surprisingly, it was again the duo that collectively contributed 65 points with a cameo from Montrezl Harrell and Lou Williams. 

This showed how Paul George affects the numbers for the Clippers. Let’s see if he can continue the form in Game 6.
