Philadelphia 76ers Latest Team to Be Affected by Coronavirus

Philadelphia 76ers confirmed on Thursday that three members of the organization have tested positive for Coronavirus. 76ers in their announcement didn’t disclose the name of the people who are affected by the virus. And by the manner of their confirmation of positive tests, it could either be their players or staff members.
Sixers release the following statement:
The Philadelphia 76ers, in consultation with medical experts and the NBA, received the recommendation that certain individuals from the organization, including players, coaches and specific basketball operations support staff, be tested for COVID-19. The tests were secured and processed privately.

Three individuals have received positive test results for COVID-19. All other test results are currently negative. We have reported this information to state and local health authorities as required. Pursuant to CDC guidelines, the individuals are in self-isolation and will be monitored closely by medical professionals.
The health of our players, staff, fans, and community is paramount, and we continue to be guided by medical experts at this time. We extend our gratitude and appreciation to the public health and medical communities for their tireless efforts during these challenging times, as well as to our fans and partners for their support.
Philadelphia 76ers not taking any chances
Notably, after Deteriot Piston’s Christian Wood tested positive for Coronavirus. It was necessary for 76ers players & staff to test the virus as the protocol by the NBA. Last Thursday, sixers announced that they are arranging tests for players & staff who came in contact with coronavirus positive players. These test results came two days after Christian Wood turned positive for COVID-19. As confirmed by 76ers there are still few staff members left to test for Coronavirus.

The list of those affected by the coronavirus in the NBA is just increasing day by day. First, it was Rudy Gobert and Denvon Mitchell of Utah Jazz which led to the NBA suspension. As did Christian Wood, one member of Nugget’ and Boston Celtics’ Marcus Smart. Later Kevin Durant and three other Brooklyn Nets players also joined this ill-famed list with two other Lakers players.

That is to say, all the players and members affected by COVID-19 are in isolation/self-quarantine period. By the looks of it, it is just becoming harder and harder for the NBA to resume its season this year. According to NBA commissioner Adam Silver, eight of the league’s 30 teams have undergone team-wide testing. And four of those teams have had positive tests.
