Ben Simmons is one of the best players in the entire league. The former number one overall pick for Philadelphia 76ers enjoyed a quick ascension to the top of the league.

Despite not having a competent jump shot, Simmons is outstanding at almost every other aspect of the game. Simmons is a 6’10 player who can play anywhere on the floor. He has tremendous vision, handles, and distribution for his size.

He is also mobile and bulky enough to keep up with any position. Simmons is arguably the pacesetter for the 76ers. Even though Joel Embiid may be the star, Simmons is the enabler.

He has the ability to include everyone in an offensive possession but is also equally capable of finishing the job himself. His shooting might be extremely lacking still, but he has the tools to make up for it and be a valuable contributor.

However, the 76ers will be missing Ben for a while. Simmons injured his left knee against the Washington Wizards. He left the game and was evaluated.

While initial scans came back negative, Adrian Wojnarowski has revealed that Simmons suffered a subluxation of the left kneecap. This means that he dislocated the knee cap before it slid back into place.

Ben Simmons and his injury history with Philadelphia 76ers

Ben Simmons has long been plagued by injuries. He missed his rookie year due to ankle injuries but won Rookie of the Year upon debuting. This injury casts a dark shadow on Simmons’ career going forward.

This injury has aggravated the chances of a similar dislocation happening again. This will impact Simmons’ style, as one uneven landing could cause worse knee injuries for the star.

Simmons was injured earlier this season prior to the NBA shut down. His back was hurting, and he missed a few games over it. One of the advantages of the pause in the season for the 76ers was that they would get their star duo back.

However, it looks like Embiid may have to carry the show on for longer.

Simmons has averaged a pitiful 11 points per game in the restart. He has a combined +/- of -17 through the first three games. Even though his impact was scarce, Philadelphia is hit hard by the injury to Simmons, as there is no real ball distributor on the team outside of him.
