Despite the COVID risk, the NBA has set up the Orlando return plan. So to keep their players safe, they have imposed a lot of rules. It includes not leaving the bubble for the whole duration of the tournament, mandatory quarantine when you enter and the latest being pre-game uniforms. It has barely been a few days since the players arrived and Sacramento Kings center Richaun Holmes has already broken the rules.

Holmes crossed the bubble limits as he tried to pick up food delivery. The hilarious part is, just hours before, his former teammate, Phoenix Suns forward Kelly Oubre Jr had tweeted a ‘piece of advice’ to the NBA players in the bubble. (The tweet has been deleted now)

Just a few hours after this, Richaun Holmes tweeted an apology for crossing the line to pick up his food.

After seeing Holmes’ tweet, Oubre Jr deleted his original tweet and tweeted “nevermind lol.”

But by then all of Twitter had seen this timeline of events. Holmes’ mother tweeted about her son and also had a laugh about it.

The interesting part is that three days back, Dave McMenamin from ESPN reported that during a zoom meeting with reporters, Holmes talked about the food. He was one of the few players who did not complain about it. “I’ve seen complaints about the food, I’ve been good down here. I would just say, thank y’all for the food,” said Holmes.

Now Holmes will be forced to miss practice and will have less chance of featuring in the Kings’ first scrimmage game against the Miami Heat on July 22nd. This season, he was averaging 12.8 points and 8.3 rebounds along with 1.4 blocks per game. He is having career-highs in points, rebounds, blocks, steals, and even field goal percentage.

He is a vital presence in the paint for Sacramento. Along with De’Aaron Fox and Buddy Hield, Holmes is an essential player for the Kings. His availability and fitness will be key to the Kings’ charge of making the playoffs for the first time since 2006.
