Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA) popped on the map of the Basketball universe when they signed a new broadcasting deal in 2003. As is the harsh truth, only a select few tune in to watch these games, and even the most hardcore hoop fans do not turn up. However, the Phoenix Suns are hoping to spark a change.

The Western Conference NBA side barely made the cut into the 22 teams that could enter the Orland Bubble. They still stand a meager chance of making it into the playoffs. Cutting to the point, they have extended their support for WNBA on Twitter.

Kobe Bryant and WNBA
It is refreshing to see how the Suns made use of Kobe’s love and admiration for WNBA to teach a much-needed lesson. WNBA had given draft honor to the late Gianna Bryant.
The 13-year-old had a glorious future ahead, and Kobe Bryant was very passionate about her hoop dreams. Naturally, The Black Mamba respected the sport and hence was quoted saying, “I love it. I love watching it”.
He called it much more fundamental and added, “We see a lot more pure Basketball in the WNBA”. More such influential NBA players must come out to show their complete support for their counterparts.

Diana Taurasi, Brittney Griner, Candace Parker, Lisa Leslie, and innumerable others are making the WNBA a spectacle. In 2017-18, they were receiving 20% of the shared revenue while the NBA was getting 50%.
These women put in their heart and soul into the sport that we all know and love and they will only get what they deserve when we as fans tune in to witness them make history.

We hope this appeal by Phoenix Suns helps the sport, and we see the rise of WNBA.
