“Playing With a Hall of Fame Player”: Paul George Explains Why His Los Angeles Clippers Move Came at a Perfect Time

Paul George feels his move to Los Angeles Clippers has come at the perfect time. The 10th overall pick in the 2010 NBA Draft has enjoyed decent success with an NBA career spanning a decade.
The Clippers signed two All-Stars last summer in an attempt to strengthen their side and make them a title contender. George came from Oklahoma City Thunder, while Kawhi Leonard came in after leading Toronto Raptors to a championship a year before.
Talking to Darius Miles and Quentin Richardson on the “Knuckleheads” podcast, George felt the timing of his move couldn’t have been better.

“It’s been great, I feel like everything aligned at the right time. Year 10 for me, I’m playing with a Hall of Fame coach, I’m playing with a Hall of Fame player — multiple of them, man you could have a case for Lou [Williams] being a Hall of Fame player, too, with his career. I just feel like everything lined up, I’m back at home, it’s easy on my mom, my parents, I just feel like everything was positioned where it was supposed to be for year 10 for me,” he said (H/T Clips Nation).
George also talked about how he had an opportunity to be a part of a similar side while at Indiana Pacers. He said that he didn’t feel the Pacers wanted to win, which made way for his exit.

One of the reasons George feels good at Clippers is the leadership at the franchise. George praised Clippers owner Steve Ballmer and his enthusiasm. He said Ballmer is a part of the team and the players want to win for him.
“It’s a real joy to go out and want to play for him. You know what I mean, want to do well for him, want to bring a championship to him because of everything that he’s done for us and how much he’s involved,” George said.

The Clippers have looked great since bringing in Leonard and George last summer. Prior to the league’s suspension, the Clippers were second in the Western Conference with a win-loss record of 44-20. Their biggest rival stopping them from winning the title this year seem to be their neighbors- Los Angeles Lakers.
The two teams from Los Angeles could potentially face off in the Conference finals this year.
