Consistency is the key, and Damian Lillard’s entire career reflects just that. The Oakland born player has worked his way up and shown tremendous MVP potential. He has played eight seasons with the Portland Trail Blazers and a total of 55 post-season games. This amounts to a fair bit of experience!

In the Orlando Bubble, Dame was a brute force. He had four extraordinary games where he scored 40+ points. The man took the Mavs by storm with his 61-point game. As a result, the Blazers had won 7/9 seeding games inside the bubble and even managed to scare the Lakers in Game 1. Regardless of these lofty achievements, there are certain skills he still wants to pick from other players.

Damian Lillard and his wishlist

Recently, a Twitter user tagged Damian Lillard and asked him to pick three qualities from any three legends of the game. Surprisingly, Dame picked just one retired player and two current players to mark his list.

The Big Game Dame replied to the tweet and said, “Jordan athleticism, LeBron durability, Durant size/ skill set”.

A point worth noting here is that Lillard took just three minutes to notice and respond to the question. Clearly, he didn’t have to think much to come up with his answer.

The Blazers’ star’s choice makes sense

When compared to the three players he selected, Lillard is the shortest at 6’2”. This is okay for a guard, but it does limit his guarding ability when compared to someone like Jamal Murray. So it’s only natural that he’d want the skillset and size that Kevin Durant brings on the floor.

One of Dame’s qualities is his agility, but he needs is to remain consistent with it. That might be why he craves the athleticism that Michael Jordan showed. MJ played for 14 NBA seasons and averaged 38.3 minutes of playtime while still being extremely quick on the floor, at least until 1998.

Lillard clearly wants to keep himself free from injuries since that was a problem for him in round 1 against the Lakers. He had to eventually pull out of the series. This is where LeBron James can serve as an inspiration for Dame to not wear out in 4-5 years.

Damian Lillard is one player who clearly knows what he wants from his basketball self.
