Ben Simmons receives plenty of criticism despite how much he has achieved as a 24-year-old. He is one of the league’s best young players and made an impact as soon as he joined the NBA. He became Rookie of the Year and has been named All-Star twice, along with being named All-NBA Third Team and All-Defensive Team. However, there is one area he severely lacks in, and now Danny Green is going to help him with it.

Danny is the new shooting guard for the Philadelphia 76ers. After winning his third title with the Los Angeles Lakers last season, he was traded to Oklahoma City Thunder for Dennis Schroder and then sent off to the Sixers to help out the struggling Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons.

It is no secret that Simmons shows hesitation while making three-points or jumpers. This doesn’t change his All-Star status. But using this shot would make his game better and would be a great help to the Sixers. His former coach, Brett Brown, also tried to get him to make these shots, but to no avail.

With their star player not doing enough from the arc, the Sixers need someone to do the shooting. Thus entered Green. But will he be able to bring out the best in Simmons?

As a new teammate for Simmons and Joel, Green revealed that the Lakers’ scouting report always stated that they need to beat the Sixers from beyond the arc. However, that will have to change according to Danny.

“I’m challenging not just Joel but Ben to not worry about percentages, especially early in the clock, early in the game,” Green said on ‘Inside The Green Room.’ “You can’t be afraid to take those jumpers and keep a defense honest. Mind you, you shoot it pretty well. We see it in practice, we see you shooting online, we see highlights and clips — you’re not a bad shooter, it’s all confidence and mental. So I’m gonna try to take it upon myself to challenge him. To put himself in some uncomfortable situations or positions. To make himself more comfortable doing those things, and that may be taking at least one corner 3 a game just to keep the defense honest.”

Having a marksman who has proven himself can make a big difference for Simmons and the Sixers. In the offseason last year, Philadelphia signed a max contract with the young star which showed their faith in him. And now, with Green’s confidence, can this be a game-changing year for Ben?
