The NBA Finals are over and the Los Angeles Lakers are your 2020 NBA Champions. While the purple and gold are in preparations of hanging banner #17 in the rafters, their noisy neighbors, the Clippers, were eliminated back in WCSF.

When the Clippers acquired Kawhi Leonard and Paul George, they were touted as the team to beat. Most analysts held them in high regard and expected them to become the NBA Champions.

However, the reality is often disappointing, as the Clippers struggled to maintain team chemistry throughout the Playoffs.

Their supposedly second best star, PG13, severely underperformed in the postseason. Fans even gave him a new nickname: “Pandemic P”. He averaged 20.2 points on ridiculously low shooting-splits of 39.8% from the field and 33.3% from beyond the line.

According to ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne, a senior Lakers executive allegedly took a dig at the Clippers.

“While some of our so-called rivals spent literally hundreds of millions of dollars trying to win media cycles, we kept our heads down and focused on basketball — because the only thing we’ve ever cared about winning is championships.”

Although the executive didn’t mention any names, it seemed like a shot at the Clippers. The Clippers pretty much gave up their entire future for acquiring Paul George and yet failed to achieve anything magnificent.

After it’s all said and done, the Lakers once again emerged as the better team in Los Angeles. In fact, they are the champions of the league as of now. But the LA Clippers can still redeem themselves if they win an NBA championship next year. However, it is always easier said than done.

The past decade has been quite sub-par for the purple and gold. Ever since they won the 2010 title behind Kobe Bryant, they entered a downward spiral. They even entered a brief rebuilding phase, missing the Playoffs for 6 straight years.

However, the drought finally came to an end at the hands of LeBron James and Anthony Davis, who were nothing but insane in throughout the Playoffs. Moving forward, the duo will be looking to win a few more rings together and carry this blazing start forward.
