The Golden State Warriors played their last NBA game on March 10. The 2020-21 season starts on December 22. That implies that it will be 287 days since their last game.

While teams like the Warriors who didn’t go to the bubble got around nine months of rest, teams like the Lakers and the Heat will only have had seventy-seven days of off-season.

Warriors’ star man Stephen Curry recently appeared on the Callaway Golf Podcast. When Curry was asked whether the team had an advantage because of the longer off-season he said, “One hundred percent, but we’ve gotta take advantage of it.”

Curry added, “I think the advantage that we have in rest, other teams have in just familiarity and getting reps in over the course of the summer and in the bubble.”

The Warriors might be well rested, but they might face a big task in building team chemistry. With many new players on board and star performer Klay Thompson missing, it won’t be the easiest of things to be competitive again.

Curry also revealed some of the work he and his teammates have been putting in. He said, “We’ve been trying to manufacture practices and obviously stay safe. Get guys together, run pickup, get our skill work in and all that type of stuff… It’s a long time and we feel well-rested, but we gotta get to that level of championship-caliber play pretty quickly, knowing that games are gonna be coming every other day pretty much. Come Dec. 22, it’s going to be good to see the lights back on.”

The Warriors will be seeing the return of Steph Curry and Draymond Green, but another injury to Klay has been a really big blow.

How far can the Golden State Warriors go?

Hours before the 2020 NBA draft, the Dubs received the dreaded news of their star Klay Thompson suffering from an Achilles’ tear. While this puts a dent to their championship claims for next season, the real question is, how far along will they be able to go?

They have already added Kelly Oubre Jr. from the Phoenix Suns. Oubre is a great addition to the team. He is a good defender and also added points to the board last season. Oubre averaged 18.7 points, 1.5 assists and 6.4 rebounds last season.

They also drafted James Wiseman as the center. Given his athleticism, he can be a great defender and a rim-runner in the roster. He might even start for the team.

Although Klay is injured, the impact of Curry is enormous on the Dubs’ side. If Steph scores like he did in the 2015-16 series, the Warriors might be in for a deep playoff run.

Given the additions in other teams in the Western Conference, the competition is going to be tough. Realistically the Dubs might finish the season as the 5th seed in the conference and make it the Conference semi-finals.
