Steve Nash is one of the best point guards in basketball history. The two-time MVP was torching the league in the mid-2000s, revolutionizing basketball with the Phoenix Suns. Nash was an all-around threat on the offensive side and led the Phoenix Suns to multiple playoff runs. However, Phoenix never got to the NBA Finals.
Nash would join the LA Lakers in 2012 to get a final crack at a title, but that super-team imploded and Nash retired ringless. Now he is the head coach of a title favorite Brooklyn Nets and spoke about how winning would finally feel.
Current Brooklyn Nets coaching staff:
Head Coach: Steve Nash
Lead Assistant: Jacque Vaughn
Assistant Coach: Mike D’Antoni
Assistant Coach: Ime Udoka
Director, Player Development: Adam Harrington
Player Development Coach: Amar’e Stoudemire

“It would mean everything to me, but honestly, it’s not about me. I would be thrilled for our group, for the players, for the coaches. Honestly, I would get as much joy, more joy, out of seeing our players, coaching staff, all departments win than the feeling I would get about me being a winner. To me, I love being a part of a group, part of a team, and seeing other people happy and succeed is as rewarding as anything and more rewarding than the individual glory. It would be unbelievable just to be a part of that, but to see everyone else’s satisfaction would mean the world to me.”

The fact that Nash didn’t win as a player is a shame. However, he lost to the LA Lakers and San Antonio Spurs during their period of unmatched dominance in the West.
He did win a rin (technically) when he was part of the Golden State Warriors coaching staff in 2018. That is where Nash formed a relationship with Kevin Durant, who is one of his key pieces in Brooklyn.

Nash is inexperienced as a head coach, but is one of the smartest players in the history of the game. Cerebral point guards like Nash transition well to coaching.
Considering the staff that Nash has around him and the fantastic players on the court, he may actually realize his championship dream with Brooklyn. That will be some atonement for the championship heartbreaks he faced as a player.
