“The Best Team I’ve Ever Been a Part of”: Steve Kerr Picks 1996 Chicago Bulls Over 2016 Golden State Warriors

For Golden State Warriors coach Steve Kerr, 1995/96’s Chicago Bulls is the best team he has been a part of. The season was one of the best for the Bulls in a decade of domination. They had broken the record for most number wins in a single season, finishing with an incredible 72-10 record.
Celebrating the greatness of Michael Jordan and the Bulls, ESPN’s The Last Dance has taken the fans back to the era of Jordan. In the eighth episode of the docuseries, Kerr stated that the 1996 Bulls are the best team he has ever been a part of.
“That season has to be the best team I’ve ever been a part of,” he said in the episode that aired on Sunday.

It was not the only season that the Bulls dominated but almost an entire decade in the NBA. With Michael Jordan leading the team, they won three consecutive titles in 1991, 1992, and 1993.
Kerr joined the Bulls in 1993 from Orlando Magic. They went on to achieve another three-peat, winning 1996, 1997, and 1998 seasons- six titles in eight years.

Though Kerr said Bulls were the best team he was a part of, he did not clarify whether he included his managerial career as well. Kerr has been a part of two incredible teams- Chicago Bulls as a player and Golden State Warriors as a coach. Two teams that dominated an era in the NBA.
After moving away from the Bulls, Kerr played for San Antonio Spurs and Portland Trail Blazers. He ended his playing career in 2003. In 2014, he became the coach of Golden State Warriors. Under Kerr, the Warriors achieved the heights the Bulls did during the 1990s.

With stars like Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, Klay Thompson among others, the Warriors made it to five consecutive Finals under Kerr- winning three of them. Many have compared the team to the Bulls of the 1990s. While they might be completely different eras, they certainly have done good enough to earn the comparisons.
In 2016, the Warriors broke the Bulls record of most wins in a season, winning 73 games. This further strengthened their case for being the best team.
