“The First Time I Got Star Struck”: Lakers Player Reveals How he Felt Watching LeBron James For the First Time

Los Angeles Lakers’ Kyle Kuzma was “star-struck” when he first saw LeBron James. James was playing for the Cleveland Cavaliers when Kuzma came into the NBA.

Kuzma started his NBA career in 2017 and has been a Lakers player since then. It was a time when James had already established himself as one of the best all-time players to have played in the NBA. He was fresh from leading his hometown club to their first NBA title. He led an incredible turnaround against to win the 2016 NBA title beating a Warriors team that had won a record 72 games in the season.

It was not a surprise when Kuzma said, watching LeBron James then amazed him.

“The first time I got star struck was when the first time I played Bron when he was in Cleveland in my rookie year. Just to be on the court with someone like that, I would definitely have to say that moment,” Kyle Kuzma said in a conversation with Carmelo Anthony.

A year later, he got an opportunity to play alongside the star as the Lakers signed James in 2018.

Playing alongside LeBron James and Anthony Davis has helped Kyle Kuzma in his career

A season after James joined the Lakers, they signed another star man in Anthony Davis. For a young Kuzma, he said two months ago, playing alongside two star players has helped him develop in his career.

“Young players, they want to continue to put their name in, develop and have these high accolades, but, for me, I got a chance to have a backseat to the best two players in the NBA and really learn from them (Anthony Davis and LeBron James), and see what they do on a daily basis, how they approach the game. For me, I think this whole experience this past season has really boded well for my career,” Kuzma said on ESPN’s “First Take”.

With Davis and James leading the team, the Lakers have had a great 2019/20 season. Prior to the league’s suspension, the Lakers were on top of the Western Conference with 49 wins.
