The killing of George Floyd has sparked rage across the country. People are marching down the streets demanding justice, while the police are trying to resist the force of their fellow citizens. Demanding an end to police brutality, many NBA stars are voicing their concern on social media as well as participating in the ongoing protests.

However, in these unsettling times of pain and agony, a few people let their emotions get the better of them. Amid the violent protests blazing across the nation, former NBA MVP Steve Nash expressed his views on the issue and implied the steps which he feels is the solution to get over the persisting problems in the country.

The 46-year-old took to Twitter and wrote, “This is a white problem. How are WE Caucasian people going to create equality? Listen. Read. Walk in others shoes. Organize. Sacrifice. Change. Support. VOTE! These are the MINIMUM of REPARATIONS.”

While Nash is equally condemning the brutal killing of George Floyd, he also feels that people of different ethnicity have nothing to do with bringing the change. The Phoenix Suns legend wants the white people in the country to cause the change. To create the difference, people belonging to the major race need to step into the shoes of the minority community and face the problems they go through.

Twitter users respond to NBA legend Steve Nash on his post about ethnicity

Steve Nash in his tweet mentioned that people from different ethnic backgrounds don’t have anything to do with the change that is required in the country. According to him, the white Americans who constitute for the racial majority, should be the ones to clean up the problem that is largely prevailing in the society.

By listing his European descent, Nash urged the white community to change by walking in the shoes of minority communities. Nash’s message didn’t particularly sit well with a lot of people. It was labeled to be creating an ethnic wall around Americans, while people are out there claiming every human is equal regardless of color or race.

A Twitter user name Trevor Norton mentioned the problem in Nash’s tweet and briefed in on the obstacles faced by the white community. Furthermore, another user named Joe Sanders expressed his disapproval by stating that issues like these should be of human rights violations rather than calling it a racial killing.

While the thread began to evolve with political comments, a user named Mike replied to Nash in just five words. A large group of people disagreed with the eight-time NBA All-Star, which only lowers his reputation in the social media circle. Though Nash just voiced his feelings on whatever is happening, it certainly didn’t end up well in the Twitter world.
