Rudy Gobert was the first coronavirus case in NBA
The news of the league’s suspension came simultaneously with the NBA‘s first positive coronavirus case- Gobert, followed by teammate Donovan Mitchell. Later, Detroit Pistons’ Christian Wood became the third positive case before Brooklyn Nets and Los Angeles Lakers also confirmed positive cases in their respective teams.
Adam Silver says if Rudy Gobert hadn’t been tested, NBA likely would have kept playing. He says if NBA didn’t act as soon as it did, others might not have followed the way that they did.

“Just the fact that we were using the word ‘hiatus’ just a week ago, and that sort of implication was a short amount of time. I think I said last Thursday not less than 30 days, just to give some guidance to our teams and our players, but at this point, I really don’t know,” Silver said during a rather long interview.
