Bradley Beal and his future are topics of speculation among many NBA fans. The 28-year-old shooting guard has been a Washington Wizard since 2012. Beal went to Washington as the number three pick in the 2012 NBA Draft. Since then, Beal has grown by leaps and bounds as a player.

Beal’s ability to handle the ball has helped him grow well. Additionally, the back-court comprising him and John Wall has brought the Washington Wizards out of mediocrity. Since the two players joined, they have led the Washington Wizards to the NBA playoffs multiple times, something the franchise had not done for years before their arrival.

The lack of success in the playoffs has been a major disappointment for Wizards fans and Beal. Beal is now 27 years old and will be looking to have greater success in his career. Entering his prime, Beal may consider going to a better team. He will be a free agent in 2021. Given the financial problems in the NBA, the salary cap could be reduced and Beal could see his potential salary reduce.

The Washington Wizards may want to consider getting a deal for Bradley that would see them get something significant in return. The return on Beal would be at his highest now, given that he was an NBA All-Star for the past two seasons.

Warriors GM talks of Bradley Beal as a leader

For the Washington Wizards, the temptation to keep Beal will be great. His combination with Wall has provided some of the most lucrative years to the team. Any future shot at a championship will be predicated on keeping Beal and Wall and building the team around them. But with the lack of free agents and draft picks available, that might not be possible.

Wizards GM Tommy Sheppard spoke to the ‘Grant and Danny’ show. About Beal’s play, Sheppard defended Bradley’s injuries and how he carried the team. He also discussed the lack of appreciation Beal gets in the NBA.

“Last year was very difficult as we rotated our entire roster without John [Wall]. Bradley had to take upon so much on his shoulders and it was difficult. And on top of everything else, with the interruption of the season. Everything that happened, throughout all of it Bradley was a professional and a great leader. The biggest travesty in the NBA last season was him not being on the All-NBA team or on the All-Star team. He certainly deserved those things,” Sheppard said.

Bradley Beal will be entering the final year of his contract this season. It will be interesting to see how his future pans out.
