During his prime, Dwight Howard was a delight to watch. He even carried the Orlando Magic to the 2009 finals. The multi-time DPOY winner hit a bit of a rough patch after things didn’t work out with the Lakers back in 2020.

Howard returned to Staples Center earlier this year and has been crucial for the Lakers. He may not have that explosive athleticism anymore but has proved instrumental off the bench

Dwight Howard got a lot of attention from the NBA fans after Lakers vs Blazers game 1. The reason being he tilted the rim after a monstrous two-handed slam during the second quarter.

This isn’t the first time in his career that Dwight has caused damage to the rim. Back in 2009, he brought down the shot clock with a thunderous dunk.

Anthony Davis was quick to ask the officials to stop the play and fix it. Danny Green and LeBron James were assessing the damage done to the rim.

Lakers were still chasing the game and got a much-needed break due to Howard’s stunt. However, the break was not enough for them to overcome Damian Lillard and the Portland Trail Blazers.

A below-average three-point shooting performance held them down and ultimately cost them an important game. Luckily, the Lakers can still redeem themselves in the upcoming games. The task at hand remains to improve the three-point percentage for them.

On the other hand, each player on the Blazers roster is getting the job done. Carmelo Anthony, CJ McCollum, Gary Trent Jr., and Jusuf Nurkic support cast played a vital role in the victory. If they keep this up, the Lakers and LeBron’s legacy might get tainted real soon.
