LeBron James is one of the greatest NBA players ever. The Akron native is on the Mount Rushmore of basketball players. James’ ability to move as he does, being billed at 6’9, 250 pounds, is incredible. ‘The King’ is considered one of the greatest playmakers in basketball history.

It is fair to say that no one had more pressure before entering the NBA than LeBron James. When he was just a high-schooler, he graced the cover of Sports Illustrated. James was dubbed ‘The Chosen One’, the heir to the throne of Michael Jordan. His high-school basketball games were broadcasted on national television, which was unheard of at the time. Such was the pressure on LeBron James as he entered the league.

Upon entering the league, James surpassed expectations. He went number one overall in the 2003 NBA draft to his hometown Cleveland Cavaliers. Since entering the league, James has gone from strength to strength. In his 17 years in the NBA, James has won four NBA Championships, four regular-season and Finals MVP. In addition to this, he is a 16-time All-Star, and the only player to win Finals MVP with three different franchises.

Crawford thinks LeBron James should be appreciated

James is now 35 years old, but showing no signs of aging. He just won his fourth NBA Championship with the Los Angeles Lakers. Many fans had questioned James’ ambition in the NBA, with them suggesting him going to the Lakers was a move to pursue his Hollywood aspirations.

The Brooklyn Nets’ Jamal Crawford was recently interviewed. On the topic of James, Crawford pontificated about what makes ‘The King’ so unbelievably great.

“LeBron’s a gift, man. Just think about the expectations that were put on him at the start of his career. ‘The Chosen One’, the cover of Sports Illustrated, high school games on ESPN. He surpassed everything that was thrown at him… And he didn’t go crazy in the process.

“I think that part is underrated, you don’t hear about LeBron off the court. He’s a family man…His greatness, his drive to be great, he’s been this great for almost two decades. That is unheard of… You see so many people come and go, to sustain that kind of excellence is one of a kind. We may never see that again, so we should appreciate it and understand what we’re watching.”

James will be entering his 18th NBA season soon. At 36 years of age, James will look to maximize his years left in the NBA and win another championship with the Los Angeles Lakers.
