“Will Show For Work”: Danny Green Dismisses Previous Claims on Lakers’ Veterans Missing Start of NBA 2020-21

It hasn’t been very long since the Lakers won the title, but the dates for the next season are already under review. It is rumored that the NBA’s board of governors are planning to condense the offseason and begin the next in December itself. This is an attempt to bring the league’s normal cycle back, which was disrupted because of the pandemic.
Even if the season resumes before Christmas, the NBA is planning to keep that short with just 72 games. However, these speculated dates were not appreciated by many. This is because it is quite unfair to make the top playoff teams, who stayed in the bubble longer, return with much lesser time to rest and prepare than the others. Especially those that played in the Finals.
This is where Danny Green came in and claimed that the veteran players in his team won’t want to return so soon. He even named LeBron James as one of those players, but has now stated that he wasn’t very serious when he made those statements.

The entire Lakers team will return
On ‘Inside the Green Room’, Danny Green said that his statement was misinterpreted. When asked, he said, “I’ve given my thoughts before. I’m not going to give too much more. Every time I say something. it’s taken out of context and I said I’m pretty disappointed in the people that just read the quote and not seeing the tone of the quote. I was obviously saying in a sarcastic voice, in a joking way.”

The question placed in front of Danny was, “So you will show up for work?”. Danny asserted, “We always show up for work, not speaking on or for anybody. But I was just joking, saying you know certain guys, not just LeBron, but I was saying we have a lot of vets on our team. And we prefer not to start on December 22.”

Green lists all the players that have been a part of the team for so long, reiterating that there is no reason for the team to not show up.
“To start up a month and a half later, two months later, is tough. But we will show for work. You know. So don’t take it out of context. I speak no more on it. But we hope that we get a little more time to relax and rest and give our bodies a chance to recover before we start back up again.”
