It’s been over six months since the world lost a kind soul in Kobe Bryant to a helicopter crash. Today is a special day for all basketball fans out there, it’s Kobe’s 42nd birthday. The five-time NBA champion has left an irreplaceable legacy both on & off the court.

A plethora of NBA legends and fans wished Kobe a happy birthday. Today, the internet is flooded with appreciation and memories of Kobe.

Among millions of heartwarming wishes, it was Pau Gasol’s tweet that left the basketball world in tears. Pau has proved in the past few months that his bond with Kobe was much more than that of a teammate.

He has taken care of Vanessa Bryant and her daughters as his own family. The two-time NBA champion shared this message on his Twitter account:

“With tears in my eyes today… I just wish so badly that you were here celebrating your bday with your girls and family. I miss you and Gigi so much brother. I will always be thankful for how much you have impacted my life in so many different ways.”

Gasol’s post indicates the impact Kobe had on his life. We cannot even imagine the pain he must have gone through after losing his sworn brother. Fans have urged Gasol to join the Lakers for one last season and retire in a Lakers jersey as a tribute.
