With the beginning of the trade window and free agency in the NBA, many rumors are afloat. With players and franchises’ futures being uncertain, it is truly an exciting time for the NBA. One team that many are speculating about are the Golden State Warriors. After they failed to capture the 2019 NBA Championship, the team fell apart. Klay Thompson got injured in the finals and lost an entire year of his career. High-profile players such as Kevin Durant and Andre Iguodala left in free agency.

The next season was unsuccessful for the Warriors. They missed the NBA playoffs for the first time since 2012. They lost Steph Curry due to an arm injury and struggled without him.

The Warriors were not invited to the bubble after the NBA hiatus was over. But their bad season did have some good fortune as they got the second overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft through the lottery.

The second overall pick will be significant in the Warriors adding to their still spectacular team. If they make the right pick, the Warriors can reach the top of the mountain once again. Or they can use their pick in order to acquire a win-now superstar from another team.

Many have speculated about the Warriors shedding heavy assets such as Andrew Wiggins and Eric Paschall in order to create cap-space. The Warriors are believed to want to make a move for Giannis Antetokounmpo next year during free agency.

‘The Greek Freak’s’ current contract with the Milwaukee Bucks expires after the 2020-21 NBA season. And the two-time MVP would want to test his value in free agency, especially if the Bucks fail to make a significant championship push this season.

Matt Barnes and Stephen Jackson spoke on their ‘All The Smoke‘ podcast about Antetokounmpo possibly going to the Warriors. Barnes is confident this would restart the Warriors dynasty and said, “Greek Freak to Golden State? The Warriors are going to have another dynasty.”

Stephen Jackson wasn’t so quick to make them the favorites and pointed out other moves that have been discussed. He said, “You can’t just say that, with Bron and AD and they might have DeMar DeRozan. And KD and James…There’s a lot going on bro. I love it.”

Barnes suggested that the Warriors with Antetokounmpo could win three championships in a row and said, “If Greek Freak can go to Golden State, I’m giving Golden State their first three-peat.”

It will be interesting to see where Giannis’ future goes. But for now, it is fun to speculate on how it would pan out.
