In a departure from the usual practice of inviting only the winning team to the White House, the First Lady of the United States, Jill Biden, extended invitations to both NCAA Finals teams, Louisiana and Iowa, to visit the White House. Angel Reese, whose stock has been high, initially felt “hurt” by the invitation extended to their rivals, perceiving it as a result of their predominantly white composition.

The 21-year-old, however, made a visit to the White House, as is customary for an NCAA champion. On her short visit, Reese seems to have impressed President Joe Biden.

Notably, Angel Reese’s cousin, Jordan Hawkins, who plays for UCONN, also secured the NCAA men’s championship title. A friendly bet was made by the president regarding a one-on-one match to determine the better player. President Biden demonstrated significant confidence in the young basketball athlete, indicating his high regard for Reese’s skills.

President Biden remarked, “We’ve got a bet going on. There’s a basketball court down below.” He continued, “I got Angel too. Besides, I have secret service to make sure Angel’s gonna win.”
