At last, some positivity has shined over Bronny! The 19-year-old son of LeBron James has been the talk of the town ever since his dad backed him up on X. After reports revealed that he did not make it to the ESPN mock draft for 2024, the Los Angeles Lakers star showed his frustration, which led fans to criticize Bronny James even further for his mediocre performance in the NCAA this season. Well, the 4-time champion did not say anything publicly this time, but a former New York Knicks icon did.

Bronny James has averaged a low of 5 points in the 21 games he has played this season. While fans have often used this to discredit the youngster, Stephon Marbury has managed to see another side to back him up. He shared in an interview, “First, I think that Bronny is a pro. I think, you know, he is playing 20 minutes, which is half the game in college. I think he needs to play more to be able to make more and to be able to have an opportunity, to really show his ability.”

Notably, he also believes Bronny is “Grade A” when it comes to getting to the basket, shooting, and most importantly, shot-blocking. However, Marbury has another request for the youngster.

The 47-year-old added, “Him staying in college for two years is not a bad thing. You got guys like Allen Iverson. He played two years”. Marbury wants Bronny to get more experience in college before he goes pro. In contrast, that has been the very pressure for the 19-year-old. King James, who never went to college, set the bar high and now fans are expecting the same from Bronny.

Is LeBron James indirectly the reason behind the high pressure on Bronny James?

While it is appreciative of the 4x champion for backing Bronny all the time, he has also unknowingly been a reason for the criticism. In several interviews, James has shown his desire to team up with his son in the NBA, but the clock is ticking for the scoring leader. It’s year 21 and we do not know how many seasons he has left in him. So, the only way to team up soon is by Bronny finishing college.

But on the other hand, he lacks experience. As Marbury mentioned above, the youngster has the ability and will have the scope to improve only in college. The minutes will be further restricted in the NBA if he decides to go pro. Thus, the ultimate pressure falls on Bronny James. Anyhow in these tough times, he has his family’s support whatsoever. Especially from his mother. Savannah James wants nothing but the best for her son. She shared, “Listen, I want nothing for them except for their happiness. That’s it. In whatever they decide to do, I’m here supporting and rooting for them”. So now, it’s all up to Bronny.

He can either stay for another year while his dad waits or join his dad in the NBA but without enough experience. What do you think the 19-year-old will do?
