The Tar Heels and Bill Belichick’s drama are the only things keeping the Tar Heels on national media headlines. On field, the Tar Heels are 2-4, ranked 15th in the ACC, most likely to miss Bowl appearance. But off-field, boy, where do we begin? Jordon Hudson, Michael Lombardi, and the locker room problem and so on. But the biggest tea of the week? Earlier this month, Hulu decided to cancel UNC’s documentary series after their 38-10 L to Dabo Swinney’s Clemson. But according to Bill Belichick, it’s not rejection, but a redirection.

On October 21st, Bill Belichick hopped onto a podium and cleared the air about documentary series. When asked about his involvement in athletic director Mike Lombardi’s controversial trip to Saudi Arabia and the reported cancellation of UNC’s football docuseries, Bill Belichick clarified that the project wasn’t scrapped but only paused: “Yeah, it’s (the docuseries) paused. It’s not terminated. And the university related a statement on Saudi Arabia. So I don’t have anything to add to that.” Bill Belichick sure knows to dodge the question, he basically curved pre-season Saudi fund-question. However, Bill Belichick was aware about it. “There’s no secret.”

Although the original Hulu docuseries about Bill Belichick’s first season coaching North Carolina was canceled, college football fans will still get a behind-the-scenes look. North Carolina based-local news station WRAL in Raleigh announced they’re making their own documentary about Belichick’s debut season with the Tar Heels. This comes after Hulu’s project was dropped because Belichick had the right to end it through his contract.

However, the production company EverWonder is still filming in Chapel Hill, meaning the original series might return if the team improves. Still, a major turnaround doesn’t seem likely based on how things have been going both on and off the field.

According to an earlier WRAL report, there have been serious problems behind the scenes, including a divided locker room and unhappy players and parents blaming Belichick’s leadership style. With all the drama, UNC has become one of the most talked-about teams this season — for the wrong reasons. As a result, WRAL is now in a strong position to release what may be the only full documentary about this chaotic first year under Belichick. However, on the field, a Tar Heels staff member has been let go as of this morning.

UNC Tar Heels release their O-line

North Carolina offensive lineman William Boone is no longer part of the Tar Heels football team, according to Inside Carolina. Boone last played in the season opener against Richmond but left the game early due to an injury. The team has not shared specific details about why he is no longer on the roster.

Boone joined UNC in January 2025, making it his fourth college football team in four years. Before coming to Chapel Hill, he played at Prairie View A&M, a smaller FCS school. He also had stints at Kilgore College in 2023 and New Mexico Military Institute in 2022. Despite moving around a lot, Boone quickly earned a starting spot at UNC and started the first three games of the season.

At Prairie View A&M in 2024, Boone had a strong season. He started all 12 games at right tackle and played the most snaps on the team — 782 in total — without giving up a single sack. Despite his good performance, the team finished with a 5-7 record.
