The 2022 transfer for the Crimson Tides is no short of skills and strengths. The do-it-all Mark Sears continues to bring glory to his team as he gives the Huskies a hard time on the court. While he might be the shortest of his teammates at 6-ft-1, he has all the skills when it comes to offense. The shooting master has weaponized 3-pointers and turned it against UConn in the Final Four meet. In fact, his defense against UConn’s Jimmy Buttler-esque player Stephon Castle, also took everyone’s hearts.

According to the several parallels, the NBA veteran and the Bama guard, both have a great court vision. Instead of becoming targets due to their barely 6-ft-plus heights, they use it to their advantage. In fact, the two look very similar as they create space for themselves in a heavily guarded spot and either take the shot or pass the ball.

Following the same, everyone has compared the masterclass of this senior to that of New York Knicks guard Jalen Brunson. Tweeting the reflection on their official X account, New York Basketball said, “He’s got a little bit of Jalen Brunson––lefty, strong…” –– Alabama coach Nate Oats, Grant Hill & Bill Raftery all invoke Jalen Brunson when describing Alabama PG Mark Sears.”

However, with Bama, he had to change his playing style a little. They do not really focus on midrange, where just like Brunson, Castle too is deceptive. Now he adds more shots from beyond the arc or near the bucket. With everyone making parallels between the two immaculate shooters, fans too had a moment to chime in.

Fans on Mark Sears’ new look

It was not just the team or the coach that noticed similarities between Sears and Brunson. In fact, the whole basketball world was in awe as he put up a spectacular show for the State Farm Stadium. Chase Senior, the NFL and NBA analyst for Chat Sports mentioned what version he thinks Mark Sears is for Jalen Brunson. But is he right?
