“Alex does a sh—y job of drawing attention to himself. Maybe if he did more TikToks, he’d have solidified his All-American status. We value the wrong things in sports. We don’t value champions, but maybe that’s a societal issue,” Dan Hurley said last month, taking a jab at Alex Karaban for not being active on social media. Although Hurley’s words on Karaban carry a lot of weight, the 2x NCAA Champion isn’t doing that shoddy in the NIL.

Moreover, his name has taken the spotlight in terms of UConn, setting up to make a run for a three-peat this year. So, let’s dive deeper into his not-so-frequent social media presence, NIL deals, and more.

Alex Karaban’s net worth and NIL deals

Letting his game do all the talking, Alex Karaban has a social media following of around 24k. Looking at these numbers, he ranks #46 in the NIL 100 and #17 in the College Basketball NIL Rank. Since last month, his NIL value has shot up from $991k to $1.2 million.

Looking at his game, Karaban immediately established himself as a starter when he arrived at UConn and averaged 9.3 points and 4.5 rebounds. Having 1.7 assists per game as a freshman showcased the player’s innate ability to create plays. Moreover, he took over the reins, posing a strong defender for the Huskies, and averaged 13.3 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 1.5 assists per game through the last season.

Since beginning his collegiate journey at UConn, Karaban has grabbed NIL deals with various brands, including CT Scoreboard, Podcast, Open Locker, Dunkin’, Bleeding Blue for Good, and JBL Audio with some of them top brands as you hear them. It’s amazing to see the player getting multiple deals at a young age setting his future up.

But there is a grander collaboration than the above mentioned onto which Karaban signed.

After becoming a 2x back-to-back champion with the Huskies, Alex Karaban moved on to get drafted in the NBA. However, in June, he withdrew his name from the NBA draft and returned home to chase the national championship title for the third time. Talk about coming to the league in top form.

Karaban teamed up with NIl Store from Campus Ink, a brand supported by Mark Cuban, to release an “I’m Back” clothing collection in celebration. This collection included a crew sweatshirt with pricing up to $54.99 and the t-shirt sells for $39.99.

To an initiative value boost, the UConn NIL store sold a limited run of 50 autographed Karaban jerseys, each worth $199.99. Now, with the 2024-25 season kicked off, Karaban will most likely get a lot of attention. This, in turn, can further increase his popularity as one of UConn’s most prolific scorers and defenders who also boasts a growing fan base as his collegiate career moves forward.
