“I’m not retiring… You’re never going to walk away from the NFL — it’s too big — and golf is deep in my heart,” Jim Nantz said. But, he added, “Something had to go.”  The decision was made so he could focus more on his family and his kids. The 65-year-old has 3 children from his 2 marriages. From his first marriage of 26 years, he has 1 daughter, while during his second marriage, he was blessed with a son and a daughter. Jim’s first daughter, Caroline, was born in April 1994.

He got married again in 2012 to Courtney Richards and two years later, they were blessed with a daughter, Finley. That’s why his stepping away from the NCAA tournament makes sense as he wants to be home spending more time with his young family. Last year in September 2024, the family cherished an important for Jim Nantz. The University of Houston honored him with a banner at the Fertitta Center. “To go back and have all three of my kids with me. My oldest Caroline. My Finley who turns 10 this week. She’s all excited. Even though father duties take priority over professional commitments. But the excitement of the Big Dance attracted the Cougars alum to the seat during the Elite Eight matchup. Luckily for the Houston fans, the team had a commendable lead thanks to a 34-15 display at the halfway mark.
