The NCAA women’s regular season is about to start from November and every college is recruiting freshman players for the same. The cherry on the cake is when players who have passed their freshman year are equally welcoming to their juniors. The Standford Cardinal’s star Cameron Brink shared an Instagram story welcoming their new recruit Nunu Agara on Sunday. The post declaring her arrival in the Standford team was originally done by Agara herself who used to play for Hopkins High School in Minnesota as per the Cardinal Sport Report.

Brink captioned the story as “NUNU BABESSS!!” and shared emotional and heart emoticons with the same. This furthermore reflected her welcoming attitude towards her junior.

Cardinal Sports Report also states that Agara is a 6-feet-1-inch left-handed player who is extremely well-rounded as she brings her attacking and defensive abilities to the table. Other than that, Agara also plays unselfishly being open to surprising all with her smooth passes.

For the unversed, Cameron Brink is a power forward who plays for the Stanford Cardinal of the Pac-12 conference. She put her trust in Standford in 2018 over scholarships from the Oregon and the University of Connecticut. The 21-year-old was instrumental in helping Stanford win the Championship title during the 2021 NCAA season.

Overall, she averages 12.9 points per contest with 8.1 rebounds per game and 1.3 assists per match. She also won gold medals at the FIBA U-17 World Cup in 2018, the FIBA U-19 World Cup in 2019, and the FIBA 3*3 World Cup in 2023. Recently, she also became the first women’s basketball player to sign an NIL (Name, Image and Likeness) deal with the sports conglomerate New Balance. But considering her growth is she also eligible to play in the WNBA?

As per Just Women’s Sports, Cameron was eligible to be drafted in the WNBA 2023 but refused to take it to the next level. According to the policy, the WNBA opens its draft to players who turn 22 in the same year of the draft and Cameron was born on 31 December 2001 which made her eligible for the same. Instead, she chose to ply her trade for her college basketball team- the Stanford Cardinal, and complete her senior year.

The next NCAA season will reportedly start from November 6, and it remains to be seen if Brink can repeat her 2021 heroics and lead her team to the Championship title. But why is she attached so much to her college?

Her fondness for her college can be linked to 2021 when she helped her team grab the coveted trophy as a freshman. The Cardinal trumped the Arizona Wildcats by a close margin of 54-53 and were awarded the silverware.

During her sophomore year, Stanford qualified for the National semifinals only to lose it to the Connecticut by a margin of 5 points (58-63). During 2023, Stanford were trumped by the Ole Miss Rebels women’s basketball team of the University of Mississippi during the Second Round of 32.
