Kim Mulkey told her star player to make some adjustments and it worked. The LSU Tigers went into the second half stronger than expected and won 78-58 over the Alabama Crimson Tide. The coach made Angel Reese change her and team’s mindset and turned the tide. In the post-game interview, Reese revealed what it was.

Reese was asked about her perspective of leadership. She said, “Yeah, Coach said I was being a little too nice.” That’s a unusual for the unapologetic Bayou Barbie. She was understated in the first half, but came back in halftime to end the game with 20 points and 17 rebounds.

It was aided by her teammates who she hopes to lead well. “I like to get on my teammates hard and sometimes I have to figure out how to talk to each one of my players and I think I’ve kind of figured that out slowly.”

So me and her have to step up as captains and as leaders and I think we’ve done that so far.”

True to her words, Reese and Johnson are stepping up for their team.

Tigers’ leaders steal the win

Alabama had a 35-34 lead at halftime. By the end of the third quarter, the Tigers held their opponents at only 10 points. While the first half was a strong defensive show by the Tigers, the were at their offensive best after halftime.

Johnson went 10-8-3 in 33 minutes, holding her own as the best defender the Tigers have. Morrow matched Reese with 20 and also recorded her 12th double-double of the season with 11 rebounds.
