At a time when Sue Brid’s documentary “Sue’s Places” is taking the internet by storm, she’s unwittingly rediscovering the UConn’s rich legacy. After her interview with Geno Auriemma about the history of UConn went viral, Bird has spoken to the two best program stars, Azzi Fudd and Paige Bueckers.

From discussing Geno Auriemma’s antics off and on the court to realizing their choice of UConn, the three had a fruitful conversation over a table. It is evident that Fudd and Paige are prominent and crucial to UConn, but they unveiled how they chose to land on one of the most prestigious basketball programs ever.

During their conversation, Sue Bird asked Azzi and Paige: Why did they choose Connecticut? Fudd was the first one to answer, “I came to Connecticut because, I mean, look at the walls, you look at the history, and that is why they’re the number one team in the country.”

Azzi then continued about her visits during high school: “It’s the basketball cap of the world that says enough, but coming here on visits and watching practices, I knew that this was the place that would help me reach my goals of winning and becoming the best player.”

Fudd is the number one recruit who committed to UConn by rejecting offers from Maryland. Dealing with prolonged problems with an ACL tear, she’s currently sidelined from the season.

In the case of Paige Bucekers, she was admired by the alumni of UConn, as she said, “I know coach and the coaching staff are going to push me to be the best player I can be, and I’m seeing how well their pros do like you, Maya, and Stewie, all the legends that come here, and how well they got better in college and in the league.”
