The Gonzaga Bulldogs are easily one of the best teams in the nation this year. Many would be quick to say the best team in the nation, but there are a lot of Baylor Bears fans that would disagree. While the eye test was enough to win most people over, there are concrete numbers now to explain the level of dominance that the Bulldogs have functioned on. With their ten-point win over the BYU Cougars, Gonzaga notched their 23rd consecutive win by double digits or more, the longest such streak in 60 years.

However, the beauty of tournament basketball is that one loss can end a team’s season. The Bulldogs could be crushing the competition and be upset in the Sweet Sixteen and see their title dreams crushed.
The random nature of the NCAA tournament games is what makes them exciting. Everyone tunes in and most casual fans hope they can see the magic of a college basketball tournament upset. There have been plenty of them, and unbeaten teams seem to get beat, eventually.
