Harrison Ingram Transfer: Breaking Bad at UNC, Why Did 21YO Star Leave Stanford?

Harrison Ingram has become the center of attention because of his basketball prowess and unstoppable skills. The 21-year-old star started his college career at Stanford, where he averaged 10.5 points and 5.8 rebounds per game, showcasing the world why he was among the top prospects in his class. However, his journey with Stanford took an unexpected turn when he took to social media to announce that he would be entering the transfer portal and would look to finish his college career elsewhere. 

The news of Ingram transferring serves as a huge upset for the Cardinals as this marked the fourth player to enter the portal as Isa Silva, Jarvis Moss, and Neal Begovich also announced their transfer in the same off-season. The fans, left heartbroken by the string of departures, wanted to know the reason behind this decision. 

Why did Harrison Ingram leave Stanford?

Ingram had one of the best careers as an athlete with the Cardinals, and his decision to leave them had the fans flabbergasted. Being one of the best players in the team, he couldn’t just leave without getting closer to his fans.

On X, formerly known as Twitter, he said, “Stanford is a wonderful place and my experience here has been amazing. The relationships that I have developed will be lifelong, and I will always remember my time here. Thanks to Coach Haase and staff for providing me the opportunity to become a Cardinal. The many life lessons learned on and off the court will serve me well in all aspects of life.”

“I have devoted many hours to being the best academic student and best basketball player possible, and I will continue on this path. Although there is more work required to reach my goals, through much thought, and discussion with my family, I have decided to enter the transfer portal. Thank you to everyone who has supported me during this process,” Ingram further added.

While the decision to leave the Cardinals was very hard for Ingram, he later announced that will be committing to UNC, where he is keeping the fans on their toes with his incredible performance in the 2023-24 NCAA season.

How has Harrison Ingram performed with the Tar Heels so far?

Ingram and the Tar Heels boys started the ongoing NCAA season with a tremendous victory against the Radford Highlanders. In this match, Ingram got only 27 minutes of playing time, in which he scored 12 points, secured 4 rebounds, made 3 assists, and blocked two of the opposing team’s shots. With the help of Ingram, the Tar Heels boys went on a winning streak as they won four back-to-back matches, before suffering a setback against the Villanova Wildcats. But, the team stood back up, and learning from their mistakes, they made a comeback as they won a match against the Arkansas Razorbacks.

So far, the Tar Heels have won seven out of the nine matches they have played and they recorded their most recent loss against the UCONN Huskies, in which Ingram scored 20 points, grabbed 4 rebounds, and made 5 assists. But, fans remain hopeful that their team will jump right back up and will soon make a comeback.

Till now, Ingram is averaging 14.5 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game. But, his true potential is still to be seen and fans will watch out for the young prodigy to watch how his future shapes.
