In a Statement Comeback, Cooper Flagg Goes Off in Front of a Sold Out Arena

Cooper Flagg came back home! The Flagg brothers have made their much-anticipated return to Maine, for the ‘Maine event,’ where the Montverde Academy boys will be all set to play against some of the top teams and best players in Portland. The Eagles played Gonzaga College High School in their first match of this event and did exactly what was expected from them.

The anticipation for this game reached a fever pitch as the tickets for the event at Cross Insurance Arena sold out within mere hours of the announcement. 

From dribbles to dazzles

From the tip-off of the game, Cooper Flagg set the standard of what can be expected from him in this game as he dunked the ball, with an alley-oop from his teammate, Liam McNeeley. Returning home after nearly two years, Flagg knew what had to be done as the complete arena was booked just to see him in action. The Eagles ended the game with a final score of 93-51.

But it was Flagg who stood out the most and was only one block away from a triple-double. He scored 25 points, secured 10 rebounds, made 5 assists, and had 9 blocks, in his victory over the Bulldogs. In an interview with the Portland Press Herald, he said, “I think it exceeded all expectations. It was just an incredible environment and a lot of fun. It’s kind of something you can’t imagine.”  

“I think there might have been a little bit of extra pressure. When the ball got tossed up at the start of the game, it all kind of washes away. For me, at the start of every game, everything kind of goes away. It’s an incredible feeling. To have all these people behind you, all these people that are supporting you,” Flagg further added.

The Eagles will be playing CATS Academy at the Portland Expo Center in their next game and fans know what to expect from the No.1 player in high school. Notably, Cooper Flagg will be playing for the Duke Blue Devils starting next fall.

A rising star

Born in 2006, Flagg has always shown his interest in the sport of basketball. While the 6-foot and 9-inch giant started his career at Nokomis Regional High, he transferred to Montverde Academy after his freshman year. With the Eagles, he has become a household name for all basketball enthusiasts and is poised to achieve great things as his career unfolds.

The young prodigy announced his commitment to play with the Blue Devils in November, last year. As he continues on his path to becoming a great basketball player, fans will be keeping their eye on Cooper Flagg to witness how the story of this giant unfolds.
