The senior guard of the Volunteers has created quite a storm with his commanding performance in the game at Wisconsin. Apparently, Dalton gave his first breakthrough performance of the season as the match went down to the wire.

Dalton Knecht storms past Wisconsin

The NCAA tournament witnessed yet another close encounter between two fabulous teams. The No. 9 ranked Tennessee edged past Wisconsin 80-70 on a wonderful Friday night. The Tennessee Volunteers secured their second consecutive win on the back of an inspired performance by their talented No. 3 — Dalton Knecht. The former player from Northern Colorado finished the night scoring 24 points. He made a smooth transition from the Big Sky Conference to premier college basketball in style. Further, Dalton showed good accuracy as he scored 53.33% of his shots from the floor. He followed this up with better numbers in free throws landing 7 of his 9 shots.

The 6-foot-6 Knecht has now scored 1000 career points in more than two seasons of Division I. In addition to this, Dalton was the leading scorer in Big Sky with an average of 20.2 points and 7.2 rebounds per game in his last season. Moreover, the dynamic shooting guard had a team-best average of 16.3 points in Tennessee’s three-game exhibition tour which took place in Italy. Furthermore, Dalton had a fantastic outing in a dominating 80-42 victory over Tennessee Tech, scoring 17 points.

The explosive No. 3 of the Tennessee Volunteers is only getting started in his already impressive college basketball career.

The rollercoaster ride of Dalton Knecht

Hailing from Northeastern Junior College, Dalton Knecht entered college after averaging 21 points and 6.5 rebounds per game as a senior at Prairie View High School. As a freshman, he had a decent average of 13.3 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 1.1 assists per game. Consequently, he upgraded his game in his sophomore year and ended his season with an average of  23.9 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per game. Dalton then made a move to Northern Colorado and represented the Bears in the Big Sky Conference. Afterward, he made himself available for transfer in the NCAA portal and was picked by the Tennessee Volunteers.
