Is Donovan Clingan Playing With an Injury? UConn No. 32 Fires Up in Final 4 Match Up vs Alabama

Defending champions UConn are in action against the Alabama Crimson Tide in the second Final Four for the night. The five-time national champions are just one step away from getting a shot at back-to-back national titles. In order to achieve that, head coach Dan Hurley would require his big guns to be in their best shape and firing on all cylinders. However, there are some rumors circulating that one of their star performers, Donovan Clingan, might have injured himself.
After missing his services for 3-4 weeks in December last year, the Huskies were looking at another similar situation during their practice sessions yesterday. According to some sources, the sophomore center was wearing a wrap to nurse some sort of injury in his right hand.

Nonetheless, an assist by Tristen Newton which resulted in a dunk by this towering athlete in the first half told a different story.

Moreover, his handsome contributions kept the Huskies in the lead. UConn ended the opening half leading 44-40. The second half was a completely different picture. After Alabama leveled the scores at 56 a piece with 12:44 still left, Stephon Castle along with Alex Karaban took charge and gave UConn an 8-0 run. This gave them a chance for Clingan to bury any Alabama resistance as his consecutive layups created more breathing space.
Eventually, he capped off the night with back-to-back dunks, first from Tristen Newton and then from Cam Spencer, to finish with yet another impressive figure.

Another triumphant day at the office for the sophomore center from Bristol, Connecticut. Clearly, he made the most of the 29 minutes that head coach Dan Hurley decided to entrust him with. Eventually, he became one of the five players who registered a double-digit score with 18 points and 5 rebounds. Moreover, he was 8 of 14 while shooting from the field and contributed 2 points through successful conversions of his free throws.
Another noteworthy highlight of his game for the night is the impact he had defensively. As it turns out, he blocked the Alabama players from scoring on 4 occasions.
