The Queen of Cali, JuJu Watkins is rumored to be dating fellow high school basketball sensation, Dajuan Marquett “D.J.” Wagner. The two have amassed not just accolades but respect and positive reviews from everyone. With one being the continued phenomena for USC and another being one of the first-round draft projections, let us look closer at their relationship.

The Trojans super guard Watkins has not been very transparent about her relationship status. However, fans have guessed her to be dating the Kentucky Wildcats guard DJ Wagner. Both JuJu and Wagner have posted each other’s photos on their respective Instagram accounts as prom dates.

While the two were not in the same high school, they were a couple at each other’s Big Dance. Watkins said, “He[Wagner] asked me on Facetime… We started talking about prom and he asked me…” Back in May last year, JuJu posted a photo looking absolutely stunning yet simple in a light blue dress. The photos showed DJ Wagner alongside her in a black suit with a matching light blue pocket square.

Following the date was another post where Watkins was in a fancy black dress and Wagner was beside her in a black suit. In fact, these are not the only clues we have to the two dating. They both are part of the Nike family and turns out, the creative sports-athleisure mogul captured the love story in their own way.

Watkins and Wagner shared the advertisement popularly known as ‘Only Basketball’ in a prom-based background. DJ shoots a ball at JuJu and she responds, “Check up.” The same is repeated by the Wildcats guard. Before the Nike caption appears, Watkins makes an easy bucket against her beau. The post from November 6th, 2023, is on JuJu’s Instagram profile captioned, “From one Big Dance to the next.”

The University of Southern California has not seen better days concerning their women’s basketball since Cheryl Miller but the 18-year-old sensation JuJu Watkins is changing the verdict. The Los Angeles native has made seismic waves on the California ground since high school and is continuing to bring glory to the Trojans. While we all know her accomplishments on and off the court, one thing that remains in the dark is her love life. While the baller majorly only focuses on the sport, turns out she does have a love interest.

The USC superstar was always aware that she would enter the March Madness. Additionally, she didn’t just give USC a boost to enter the NCAA DI women’s basketball tournament, she even got them the first seed in the Portland 3 region. The very successful Trojans star matches perfectly with her bae in the Wildcats. Here is how DJ Wagner became ESPN and 247Sports’ favorite high schooler last year.

DJ Wagner making his basketball legacy mainstream

Wagner came from Camden High School, New Jersey, as one of the top recruits of his class. DJ has practiced with the former NBA player Rick Brunson and has left quite a huge impact on his alma mater. He brought Camden 25 consecutive victories in his very first season with the Panthers. However, the streak came to an end due to the COVID-19 pandemic break. Nevertheless, nothing stopped the third-generation McDonald’s All-American MVP from showing off his passion for the game.

In fact, he led the Panthers to a 23-2 win-loss record as a senior. He also averaged 22.5 points and 3.3 rebounds per game in 2023. He had an overall recruiting ranking of 6 from Rivals, 6 from 247Sports, and 4 from ESPN. Wagner reigned the top recruitment spot for two years since 2020 before it dropped to 3 in 2023. Nonetheless, he was still a top recruit and committed to play with Kentucky over Louisville.

At Kentucky, the freshman guard averages 9.9 points in 25.8 minutes. While he has not yet displayed his talents as expected with the Wildcats, he has a long time to do the same. Moreover, Kentucky was still the No. 3 seed in the South region this March Madness. The Wildcats faced an upset at the hands of Oakland and had to pack their bags early. On the other hand, JuJu has continued to shine for the Trojans.

She has already collected multiple accolades, including McDonald’s All-American MVP and Gatorade NPOY. As a high schooler, the LA Lakers‘ assistant coach Phil Handy trained her to perfection. The five-star recruit chose to come to USC over South Carolina and Stanford in 2022. This was because, as an Angelino, Watkins wanted to be like her idol and former Trojan Cheryl Miller. Her contributions led USC to the March Madness as the first seed after a long wait of 38 years.
