Arkansas, in a miraculous turn of events, managed to drag themselves out from six feet under in the NCAA Tournament. Even though injuries had taken out Boogie Fland and Adou Thiero, the Hogs fought valiantly and ended up making the Sweet Sixteen. Razorbacks fans cannot wait to run it back, but there’s one problem.

Boogie Fland has entered the transfer portal with a ‘DO NOT CONTACT’ tag, according to reporter Jon Rothstein! This came as an absolute shock to Hogs fans, but Boogie quickly clarified his stance as being ready for the NBA draft and only entering the transfer portal to keep his options open.

Even though it was expected, his departure truly hurt Razorbacks fans who were looking forward to an improbable second year with the young talent. Not long after this announcement, John Calipari addressed the situation on X. The legendary coach believes that Fland can make it in the big leagues, and has what it takes to thrive.

Having the ‘IT’ factor is nothing to scoff at. People spend years trying to artificially develop what Boogie Fland has naturally with his talent. And according to coach Cal? He’s a first-round draft pick if there ever was one. “I’ve coached players with his talent and know how they are doing in the NBA,” the Hall-of-Famer said on X, referring to his long history of sending talents to the league!

Say what you want about coach Cal, but he always stands in support of his boys. In his tweet, Calipari expressed support for the young guard who followed him all the way to Arkansas. “He also knows I will always be here for him.” He said, extending warmth to the former Razorback.

Fland is headed to the league, and we have no doubts that he will do well. However, there’s a huge adjustment period between college and the pros, especially financially. After all, NIL and an NBA contract aren’t the same thing! But surprisingly enough, Boogie Fland has been ready for the change-up since he was 15. How exactly has the six-foot-two guard been preparing for this shift? Let’s find out!

John Calipari’s former one-guard fully prepped for the league

A lot of the spotlight has been on Boogie Fland this year, but the attention hasn’t been entirely on his game. The New York-native suffered an unfortunate injury not long into the season, and that almost messed up his one-and-done dreams. However, he persevered and made a comeback worth noting!

Skill-wise, Fland is right up there with the best of the best. The six-foot-two guard can really move and has an amazing touch around the rim. His shooting efficiency could do with some work, but there aren’t any immediate warning bells for scouts and coaches.

But what’s really impressive is Boogie’s financial literacy! Because of how promising a prospect he has been, the former Hog has been getting NIL deals left, right, and center, with his first one coming when he was just fifteen years old. He was one of the people to bring awareness to NIL in general, since it wasn’t a big deal back in 2019.

However, since then, he has continued to grow both on and off the court. His manager, Julian Aiken, had high praise for the upcoming NBA prospect while speaking to entrepreneur.com. “Boogie has been financially literate for two and a half years,” he said. “We set up an LLC from the start, and he learned about business expenses and deductions. These conversations prepared him, so there’s less pressure when he turns pro.”

There’s no doubt that NBA money is a lot harder to deal with than NIL money, but Boogie Fland has a solid base to build off of. The young star is financially stable, has a good head on his shoulders, and has a certain amount of experience dealing with large sums of money. With the inevitability of his future in the league, we can’t wait to see what kind of endorsements and investments he partakes in next!
