The Los Angeles Lakers played their latest game with the Denver Nuggets. A host of celebrities were present to watch the much-anticipated Game 3 including NCAA rising sensation Juju Watkins. Seeing Watkins was a surprise for many fans who flocked to her to get an autograph. However, in a bizarre turn of events, Watkins denied giving one to her fans.

The USC Trojans star posted videos of the same on her Snapchat stories with the caption “all love” where she could be seen in her car. Refusing her fans for an autograph, Watkins was pleaded by two of her followers who could be seen standing outside her vehicle.

I can’t sign this one. I can’t sign blank stuff, bro. I know that but I can’t sign blank stuff,” Watkins stated as one of her fans asked for an autograph. “It’s clear. Nah, you’re trying to set me up bro. Keep your old jersey,” Watkins remarked again as the fan pleaded.

A lot of people might consider Watkins’ actions as offensive, but this is not the first time a celebrity has denied an autograph. An article published by the Huffington Post drew attention to the fact that stars usually deny autographs when asked to do so with a blue pen. As per the same article, a blue pen autograph can be copied on objects and sold in the market as opposed to that of a black or grey pen.

As per a YT short circulating on the same topic, even NBA veteran Russell Westbrook could be seen not allowing his fans an autograph with the blue pen. In the same edited video, NBA guard Patrick Beverly enunciated, I was taught maybe after my third year that you’re not supposed to use a blue pen because they can use that signature and stamp it on another jersey. Or stamp it on other paraphernalia. And kind of use that to sell that. But you can’t do that with a black pen or a grey pen. So watch ya blue pen.”

The Denver Nuggets upped their lead to 3-0 during the first-round series, which nearly ousted the Los Angeles Lakers. The Nuggets center Nikola Jokic was the star of the night as he almost got to a triple-double that stranded LeBron James & Co. And with how things are going, it doesn’t look like LeBron will bag another title.

Now that the reason for Watkins’s actions has been revealed, fans will not judge her anymore. And hopefully next time people will see her giving an autograph that cannot be copied or sold for any monetary value without her permission.
