Meanwhile, the Alabama Crimson Tide currently holds an overall record of 19-6, which is a reflection of their competitive spirit and determination. Also, they hold a 6-4 record in the SEC. In their recent matchup against the Tennessee Lady Volunteers, Aaliyah Nye charged offensively and scored 23 points with Jessica Timmons and Loyal McQueen contributing 14 and 10 points respectively. Notably, LSU’s sophomore forward Sa’Myah Smith suffered a right knee injury as she tore her ACL, MCL, and meniscus during the first quarter of the opening game against Niagra in the Cayman Islands Classic. The injury ruled Smith out for the remainder of this season.

Taking about both the teams’ starting lineups, LSU’s current starting lineup includes guards Hailey Van Lith, Aneesah Morrow, Flau’jae Johnson, Mikaylah Williams, and forward Angel Reese. On the other hand, Alabama’s current starting lineup includes guards Loyal McQueen, Sarah Ashlee Barker, Reychel Douglas, center JeAnna Cunningham, and forward Essence Cody.

It has not been even a month since the two teams huffed and puffed with each other with the Tigers keeping an upper hand and taking the winnings. let’s look at that matchup’s highlights.

The Lady Tigers and the Crimson Tide faced off on the 18th of January. Both the teams were coming from fresh defeats and were looking to bounce back. Alabama was holding the Tigers tight till the end of the first and second quarters, however, the Tigers took the opportunity and bounced back afterward.

In the third quarter, the Tigers outscored Alabama 26-10 and carried LSU to a 78-58 win. Angel Reese and Aneesah Morrow led the Tigers, both scoring 20-point double-doubles. Moreover, Reese grabbed 17 rebounds while Morrow did 11.

Mikaylah Williams and Flau’jae Johnson scored 14 and 10 points respectively. Altogether the Tigers displayed a strong defense as they kept Alabama under 30% shooting while forcing 19 turnovers. They also secured a rebounding advantage and outperformed the Crimson Tide with a 53-37 margin.

This victory turned out to be significant for the Tigers as they remarkably improved their season record to 17-2 and maintained a 4-1 record in the SEC.’
