Luka Garza is proving his worth as one of the best players in college basketball, and we may soon be mentioning hiss name amongst the greats of the sport. If his Iowa Hawkeyes can become champions this season, it will undoubtedly be a feather in Garza’s cap. After all, he passed on the chance of being in the NBA Draft to return for his final season.

And what a season it is turning out to be! Garza is averaging 26.4 points, 8.6 rebounds, and 1.6 assists on a solid 60% shooting clip. All of this has brought him with the elites of the NCAA. One of those names is one of the greatest NBA superstars of this generation, Kevin Durant.

If Garza continues to play at this level, there is no limit on what he can achieve. While his Hawkeyes are outmatched by a few teams like the Baylor Bears and the Gonzaga Bulldogs, Garza is a game-changer. However, the better teams usually succeed in college hoops, so it will be interesting to see how Garza ends his senior year season. College player of the year seems guaranteed, but a title? Let’s see.
Luka Garza: Do his Hawkeyes have enough?
Iowa is shaping up to be one of the best offensive teams in the nation. That is in no small-part to Garza’s excellence on the offensive end. However, they have been prone to going cold and getting upset by weaker teams. This includes their early season loss to the Minnesota Golden Gophers and their recent loss to the Indiana Hoosiers.

The teams ahead of them in the AP Poll are formidable. However, their Big 10 Conference is probably the toughest challenge for the Hawkeyes. But with a generational college basketball talent like Luka Garza, Iowa will be looking to make some noise in the tournament.

That is very likely with the current team under Coach McCaffrey. However, will Iowa be able to rely on players outside Garza to keep up with his production? They have shown they are capable of doing so, but also the incapability of doing so. It will be fun to see how this pans out.
