The IU Indy athletics page confirmed the incident, posting a statement on X which read, “On the return drive from today’s game against Northern Kentucky, the bus carrying the IU Indianapolis men’s basketball team experienced a mechanical issue that caused a fire around Kent, Indiana,” “All members of the team and staff evacuated the bus without injury. Another bus is en route to pick up the team and deliver them back to Indianapolis.”

Jeff Goodman took to X to share what really happened during the scary incident. The team’s bus had a mechanical issue and had to pull over, but as the driver and a coach checked it out, flames suddenly burst from the back. The fire spread so fast that players and coaches had no time to grab their things and had to quickly leave. As they were backpedaling down the street the bus exploded.

In the wake of the terrifying incident, Coach Corsaro delivered a statement that brought much-needed relief to fans, “The most important thing is that everyone was safe,” “Things can be replaced. People can’t.”

It’s a huge relief that everyone on board made it out safely, but there’s no time to dwell on the chaos. The Jaguars are back in action in three days.

What’s next for Paul Corsaro and his Jaguars?

After a tough loss to Northern Kentucky and a terrifying bus fire, the Jaguars are hoping to end their rough season on a high note. Their next challenge? A home showdown against Robert Morris at Corteva Coliseum on February 27.

This has already not been a season to remember for Corsaro as his team have won just 9 out of their 20 games this season and are currently on a 1-4 run in the last 5 games. Naturally, ESPN gives them a low 25.7% chance of coming away with a win! An awful lot of things will have to go in their favor if they want to come up with a win.

If the Jaguars want to grab a win in their next game, one key factor will be Paul Zilinskas keeping his hot streak alive. He’s been a bright spot in a tough season averaging 17.9 points a game this season, and they’ll need him to step up once again when they take on Robert Morris.

After a nightmare of a road trip and a season full of challenges, the Jaguars have two crucial home games left to salvage some pride. With Paul Zilinskas leading the charge, they’ll need to be at their very best if they want to finish the season on a high note. Stay tuned for more updates.
