Proving To Be More Impactful Than Bronny James, Isaiah Collier’s Outstanding Journey to 5-Star Recruit

One of the most talented prospects for USC Trojans this season–Isaiah Collier–is living up to his pre-season hype. The 6 ft 5 inches point guard has fulfilled all the expectations as a freshman. He has put in a lot of effort to make significant improvements with each passing game. Moreover, his immaculate skills and craft have made him one of the top future picks in the NBA drafts.

Born in Atlanta, Georgia, Collier showed interest and was an elite athlete on the football field. However, it was during his time in middle school that he inclined toward basketball, fearing the risk of injuries involved in football.

Isaiah Collier’s standout and prolific performances in the middle school won him National level recognition. Soon after, he represented Jaylen Brown’s alma mater Wheeler High School under the guidance of his uncle Larry Thompson. The 6’3” athlete was the starting point guard and instrumental in Wheeler lifting the state championship despite suffering an injury halfway through the season. Isaiah averaged 18 points and seven rebounds along with seven assists and two steals per game as a junior for Wheeler. Furthermore, he finished the Nike Elite Youth Basketball League with 17.6 points to go with 5.1 rebounds and 6.5 assists per game.

Unfortunately, he injured himself again and had to undergo treatment for a meniscus knee injury while working out for the United States under-18 basketball team. Subsequently, he had to sit out the remaining of the EYBL circuit. Collier made his return to the Curry camp and his tremendous exhibition won him the camp’s MVP. He made a comeback to the court in his senior campaign and upgraded his game to the next level. Collier had a standout average of 19.6 points, 6.8 assists, 5.5 rebounds, and 2.2 steals per game. Additionally, he had a 52 percent accuracy in shooting from inside the arc, 38 percent from 3-point range and 77 percent from the free throw line. As a result, he was granted an opportunity to play in the 2023 McDonald’s All-American Boys Game.

Isaiah Collier has picked up from where he left in high school. He continues to impress in his freshman season for the Trojans.

The Naismith Prep Player of 2023 has made a decent start to his NCAA career. In the 8 games so far, Collier is averaging 17.3 points and 3 rebounds per game. Further, the MVP of the McDonald’s All-American Game is tied at the 90th spot with his 4.5 assists per game. Also, he has a field goal percentage of 52.2 in the tournament so far.

Mr. Georgia Basketball and a  five-star recruit, Isaiah Collier is certainly a force to be reckoned with in college basketball. There is no denying that he has justified all the accomplishments next to his name. However, we will have to wait and see if his individual accolades can result in  collective glory for USC this season.
