Only a few people touch the lives of thousands in the small timeline they have on this earth. And coaches are one of them. Some coaches make a lot of careers and some break a lot. Bob Knight was amongst the former.

A legend in Indiana, Bob was coach of another legendary coach whom the basketball community knows by the name of Coach K. But Isiah Thomas is probably the biggest name that came through the ranks of Knight’s 29 years as Indiana Hoosiers’ coach. Zeke’s College coach, in no more.

So did the entire NBA community.

Although Coach K is yet to pay their tribute with an official statement this late night they will also be shaken by the news of the demise of the man who shaped their career to become the legend of the game themselves.

The 83-year-old passed away Wednesday night leaving behind a legacy of almost half a century. A forward for Ohio State until 1962, he started as the assistant coach at Cuyahoga Falls HS right after college. Then served in the Army as a coach for 8 years. It was when he returned that Indiana came calling and gave him the job that engraved his name in the basketball world forever.

How did Knight die?

Although the cause of his death is not public yet, the Indiana legend was in his home in Bloomington when it happened on Wednesday. His website announced the same late at night and sent the basketball world into mourning in no time.

Reminiscing his legendary college coaching career, in which he had the highest amount of wins with 902 NCAA Division 1 wins. He coached the Hoosiers for 29 years winning 3 NCAA titles and 11 Big Ten seasons in that period. Famous for his Temper, Knight might have been the one because of whom “Bad Boy” Isiah and Coach K had their own famous tempers.

Although his passing has saddened everyone, his life will be celebrated, and hopefully, he left the world with his close ones by his side.
