Ever since Serah Williams began her collegiate run with Wisconsin, she’s been dominating. 1494 points, playing 91 games with an average of 16 points, isn’t bad. Even during her last season with the Badgers, she averaged 19.2 points with 9.8 rebounds per game. So, when she was named to the All-Big Ten First Team and All-Big Ten Defensive Team for the second consecutive year, it wasn’t really a surprise. Who is Serah Williams?

The 6’4″ forward was born and raised in Brooklyn, a city known as a cultural melting pot. But while she stayed there for a while, she left for Canada to pursue high school in Toronto in 2018. And that’s exactly where her game got the spotlight it needed. She competed in the 2022 All-Canadian All-Star Game and became one of the top 24 student-athletes to qualify.

She even led the Ontario Scholastic Basketball Association in blocks in 2019-20. But the highlight remained her 18.1 points, 14 rebounds, and 2.9 blocks per game, which attracted an offer from Wisconsin. Williams also played with Canada Elite for coaches Shane James and Xavier McLaughlin but returned to America and began her collegiate career with the Badgers.

Who are Serah Williams’ parents?

Serah Williams keeps her personal life extremely private. While there’s no official information about her father, it’s known that her mother’s name is Olabisi Williams who has deep respect for her daughter. “Whatever she has a passion for,” Olabisi once said of Serah, “she puts all her strength and energy into it.” She comes from a close-knit family, with her mother having ties to the Yoruba ethnicity of Africa.

While her relationship with her family remains largely private, what’s known is the mother-daughter duo share a very candid bond which has been a catalyst for her basketball career. “She’s my best friend, my confidant, she’s my everything,” Olabisi said. “She’s my best friend,” Serah responded then. “I’ll do anything for her. Hopefully I’m making her proud.” The mother is already proud, let’s know about her two sons now!

How many siblings does Serah Williams have?

Serah has two brothers, Solomon and Michael, though there’s not much available about them. But through thick and thin, the family has been together. On their move to Toronto, Williams recalled the struggle they had to go through. “It was hard, I think it was just so different… Like, I think what helped is that we did move as a family, so we had each other, but like, the area was new, and obviously the people and the culture up here were different. So, it was a pretty, like, difficult adjustment,” Serah said on Azzi Fudd’s podcast.

While Serah’s career garnered attention then, her time with the Huskies will determine her career. As Geno puts it best, “She’s pretty intense.” That was the head coach praising his new addition after she dropped 15 points in 17 minutes against the Eagles. But March Madness isn’t going to be easy. What do you think? Will Serah be able to overcome the competition and graduate with a national title?
