Kim Mulkey is one of those coaches who always takes sides with their players if a situation arises. After backing up Flau’Jae Johnson during the SEC finals brawl against South Carolina, she is now standing with her senior guard. Apparently, the Albany 2 region carries Hailey Van Lith’s previous school Louisville. Upon getting successful results in the first round, both LSU and the Cardinals might need to lock horns. Certainly, the media has its doubts about how it would affect the formidable No.11.

In an interview, the media asked Kim Mulkey what Hailey Van Lith is going through right now. Without skipping a beat, the fine head coach answered, “Well, it was, everybody’s smiling at her and you know Hailey’s a baller. I’m sure there’ll be lots of questions asked by you guys if that matchup should happen.”

Adding on how the senior Lady Tiger would respond to the matchup, Mullkey said, “She’ll answer it beautifully like she always does.” The Hall of Famer coach also talked about Hailey’s achievements with the Cardinals as her university. Apparently, in her great career of three years with Louisville, Van Lith graduated with a Finance degree. Mulkey also stated that it might be Hailey Van Lith’s final year with the Tigers that she joined in 2023.

Nevertheless, the California-native coach also suggested that going against Louisville is not a surety. In fact, she added praises for the first-round matchup of the Cardinals– Middle Tennessee.

What Kim Mulkey thinks of her second-round matchup
According to Mulkey, Middle Tennessee with 11-seed and a 29-4 win-loss record, is “pretty salty too.” She also talked about the assistant coach there — Nina Davis — who is a former All-American and was under Mulkey as a player at Baylor. She also commended the Hall of Famer head coach Rick Insell who will not easily throw the towel.
In fact, back in 2022 when the Cardinals went against the Blue Raiders, they lost pretty badly with 67-49 on the board. The Lady Raiders are still in red-hot form with a 19-game winning streak, a regular season trophy, and the Conference USA title in hand.

Nonetheless, if LSU goes against Middle Tennessee, Mulkey seems confident that they will get to the Sweet Sixteen easily. However, it is essential to consider the Cardinals in the discussion as well. Louisville has displayed some good performances in their regular season, despite losing to Notre Dame in ACC QFs. When it comes to taking on MTSU, the new and balanced U of L is confident.
